Do you think violence in the media leads to an increase in violence in society? Why or why not?


In my humble opinion, I think violence in the media leads to an increase in violence in society. That is because that people are good at imitating actions. When we see the violent media, for instance, movies, magazines,television programs, we get the impression in our mind. So some people just imitate the actions one day. It is totally terrible. We can see the social news, and find out some crimes did the bad things that because they saw the violent movies, for example, killing people crucially, robbing in the bank.


According to social learning theory, human beings can learn violence just as other actions, using computers, learning English, taking a bus etc. Also, violence influences can be divide to several levels, like baby, child, teenage, adult and so on. And that is why we have movie ratings. You can see this “Rated R: Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian” in front of movie theater.

Therefore, I would say that violent media does influence people’s mind. However, we can not eradicate all of the violent media. That is because violent media comes with good and bad aspects. The good aspect is that when we see it, we also can create some ideas. Maybe we can figure out some unique ideas, and benefit human beings. Violent media can be very exciting , and people just like it. Moreover, they see it as a kind of entertainment, having fun, killing time and so on. In contrast, violent media can be learned by people. What if people do the crazy things after watching it. Also, from time to time, it depends on a person’s personality and individual. Some people may see it just for fun and nothing will happen; however,others may hurt other people.

Generally speaking, I understand that violent media will lead to an increase in violence in society, but I still think that we, human beings should keep going. We do not know what will happen in the next generation. But we should spread violent media more carefully.

We got an internship fair yesterday afternoon. Originally, I just knew a little about it as Jackie,who is a Kaplan staff, mentioned it.

After intervewing with the internship members, I found that it was very totally a perfect job. In my opinion, if we want to improve our English quickly, it's the BEST way. They won't get money because it's illegal to do any job in America and they will help some people as well. Last but not least, they are very ambitious. So I voted to the most ambitious korea girl. Her ambition deeply impressed me a lot.

The visiting of San Francisco



This is my first visit to San Francisco. I feel very excited. However, I will stay for one more week. That means I will leave SFO on March 2rd. Now I just know some classmates who came here with me at the same time. I was thinking how could I visit some beautiful and amazing places San Francisco. Originally, I think that probably I can invite my classmates to go to some places together, then we also can discuss some routes or plan some interesting paths before visiting some sciences. But I am really in a hurry to go. My classmates and I do not know very well so far.



Therefore, I went to pier 39 last night by myself. I took a map and asked the secretary Kaplan to make sure how to get there. Also, I checked out the map that I bought, which gives me more details of transportation. So I realized that I can take F Line to get to PIER 39. However, the problem was that I couldn’t find out where I could take F Line. The map only shows that I can take F LINE MARKET street. I walked to market street for a few minutes. Finally, I asked a lady who looks very friendly and kind. She didn’t know the details, but she still tried to help me. She used her cellphone to make sure about the transportation. Then I found the train. I am so happy that I can go there myself.



When I went there, it was late. So I couldn’t take a boat to see the ocean. But I still found a seafood restaurant to taste. I ordered a crab soup and a Tuna fish. I do not like this food very much actually, but I really wanted to try it and experience food. That’s why I came here.



Finally, I planned to come back to downtown. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the F LINE station as well. I tried to ask some people, and I found it finally. I really felt exhausted. But I did have fun.



Now I am planning to go to Golden Gate bridge this weekend. I found out the Bike Rental. Also, I told my classmate, Jim Woo, this plan. Hopefully, my classmates and I will go together and we also can discuss and get there more quickly.

My Future Goals


I’d like to be a diplomat. I hope that I can make a lot of money in the near future. So that’s why I came here. I hope that I can speak English very well and communicate with foreigners without thinking.

As for my personal life, I want to take piano lessons. Actually, I have taken it before when I was in an elementary school. Then I gave it up because I had been busy to study and find jobs and so on. In my humble opinion, playing piano is very cool and makes me look more elegant. Also, it makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. You’ll see it soon.
