Wall Street 2 (Money never sleeps)

Wall Street 2 (Money never sleeps)

I chose this topic because of the topic in the text book. I know this is a very popular movie. It has had two versions released. I bought this movie from a DVD shop. I think that it’s a great movie. Actually, I do not understand the whole movie. I guess that is because I do not understand stock very well. So I do not understand why the mentor of the lead character committed suicide in the subway.

In the movie, the male lead character has a girlfriend. He admires the girl friend’s father, Michael Douglas’ Gordon Gekko, who is good at making money, such as stock. However, her father is trying to cheat him. Her father is trying to get closer to her. I love the scene very much. Her father is very tender and he pretends that he loves his daughter deeply. I trust the scene at that moment but it is fake. It is a dishonest way to get her money from the bank, where he stole it from, before entering jail.

Suggestions:
The movie about Wall Street is……
The dishonesty of Wall Street is discussed in the movie because the father cheated his daughter out of a lot of money.
However, he wants to get closer to her by being very tender and the movie is very emotional at this stage.

The Prestige

The Prestige is a 1995 novel by British writer Christopher Priest. The novel is epistolary in structure; that is, it purports to be a collection of real diaries that were kept by the protagonists and later collated. The title derives from the novel's fictional practice of stage illusions having three parts: the setup, the performance, and the prestige (effect).[1]

The Lovely Bones

The question I have is how can they say that they made "The Lovely Bones" into a movie when the story was barely left intact. Not only were there numerous things either changed or left out, but I feel that the essence of the story was lost as well. The point of the story is that a girl watches her family and her killer from heaven while she struggles to come to terms with what happened. It seems that the parts where she is in heaven she is either frolicking through a field or she is wondering what is in the lighthouse. The point of her being there was that she spent most of her time watching her family because she just couldn't let them go. This gets completely lost in the movie. And the parts where it is with her family it seems like a whodunnit case. Once again, this wasn't the point. On Earth Susie sees her family torn apart by the tragedy. The ending...oh god the ending. I won't go into it in case there are people who haven't seen it but it was complete crap. I understand that making a book into a movie is difficult and often things may need to be changed or cut out, but Peter Jackson destroyed the integrity of the story. If you can't do the book justice, then don't do it at all.

My comments:

I hadn't nocited this book actually. I found this book from an English magazine. I found that I was wondering what the story was. And I think it's interesting that the author pointed the murder at the beginning of the story. I also want to write a story for writing and for fun. Probably, I'll go to the theather to see this movie.

movies-New York, I love you.

Last night I went to see this move. I feel disappointed. I want to see this movie because the name of this movie. I want to go to New York, so I would like to know the details about New York. However, I couldn't understand the movie at the movie. It's not easy to understand because it just shows a perid story. And I think it's not connected. Anyway, I didn't see what I expected to know.

I cannot say this movie is a disappointment because I read some reviews before watching and it did not do as well as I thought it would have. The bar was not set that high, so the fact that my expectations were met is not saying much. The Good: The city of New York. If you live in the city like me, you'll recognize certain places and understand that the city is supposed to be more than just a setting, rather one of the main characters. There are genuinely tender moments, humorous conversations, and plot twists left and right which all keep things interesting. The Bad: The first thing I thought after leaving the theater was that I wanted more, but not in the positive "leave them wanting more" fashion. Certainly the good skits/scenes outweigh the bad, but there are a lot of skits that fall within the "in-between" category, too many in fact, which is what ultimately brings the movie down. Also, New York City's diversity, though hinted at though the many distant pans of the city and mentioned in conversation throughout the movie, is never really realized or analyzed to the point of doing the city justice. For example, many of the skits involve well to do middle aged whites. I mean I know the city is home to many of the said demographic but come on, Paris Je'taime's plot and character diversity makes New York City look like Lancaster, PA, or someplace really white. It is just disappointing to see the city shortchanged on its heritage like that.Still, even after having said this, I would recommend giving New York, I Love You a view. Who knows, maybe you'll disagree with my opinion and maybe you won't. You will never know until you see it for yourself. This review is not meant to deter anyone from watching this movie, as everyone's opinion on art differs. I'm just giving you a very vague heads up on what to expect.

Valkyrie (2008)

At the height of WW2, a group of high-ranking German officers hatched a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, and seize power of the military command in order to end the war. The operation was codenamed "Valkyrie", for the emergency plan that was meant to be used in case of a revolt against the Nazi government. This plan had been modified by the conspirators to ensure their success, but for various reasons the plot failed when finally carried out on 20 July 1944. The conspirators of the inner circle were shot after a kangaroo trial or sentenced to death soon after.

Tom Cruise’s ‘Tropic Thunder’ Cameo Is Not Actually All That Funny

As you may have read here, here, here, and everywhere else, Tom Cruise — previously thought to be a batshit, couch-hopping, past-his-prime albatross who was single-handedly sullying the United Artists name — is resuscitating his career! Not with his eye-patch-wearing lead in Valkyrie, but with an uncredited (but endlessly hyped) bit part in Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder, as balding, foul-mouthed film exec Les Grossman. Everybody who's seen it says he’s going to be a star again! "For two hours," sighs Fox's Roger Friedman, "all that other stuff associated with him floats away, and you just get to enjoy that kid we met such a long time ago."

Or not. Not to get all spoilery (which apparently is okay with studios when you praise their product), but Cruise just isn’t that funny in Tropic Thunder. Sure, he wears a fat suit and spoofs a Sumner Redstone–ish blowhard who likes to yell. But a cussing Tom Cruise is not really a shock — after all, nobody thinks Tom Cruise is exactly level-headed. We’ve all seen him beady-eyed and angry on the Today show, attacking anyone who’s ever taken psychiatric meds. It's not like you never thought he had it in him.

But then there's the dancing! As has been teased endlessly in the movie's positive hype, Cruise’s main comedy stunt is to dance to hip-hop, bumping, grinding, and air-spanking — yet another middle-aged actor milking yuks out of how white guys don’t know how to shake their flabby white rumps. It's not exactly the freshest gag; Steve Martin finished off the trope in Bringing Down the House. It gets less fresh the longer it's onscreen — and it's onscreen forever. It makes him seem older and even more out of touch, and it's just not funny anymore to see a stiff white dude dancing like a black guy. (In fact, now that we think about it, could Tom Cruise's racial ventriloquism actually be more offensive than Downey's blackface? At least the blackface makes sense.)

As many B-list starlets would doubtless tell Tom Cruise, booty-shaking probably won't resuscitate his career. Cruise's big problem is that he seems stuck in the mold of an eighties stud, and hasn't found a way to connect in a generation of leading men like Will Ferrell and Seth Rogen. Cruise is floundering. And this cameo just makes him look a little lost and almost pathetic — shucking and jiving, trying to appeal to the younger moviegoers who are abandoning him.

But here's hoping that he wears the eye patch well. —Logan Hill

Cap No. 7

Last night, I watched movie and TV at home, after 牽牛花開的日子 and then watch The Dark Knight, Actually after watching The Dark Knigh I am disappointed, I aways think that the film was not only have out of the box-office of United States and Taiwan but also should be well.Maybe I expected too much , but I failed to meet the expectations of good-looking which proved relatively Western film is not means guarantee good-looking.On the other hand, the recent Cap No. 7、牽牛花開的日子、冏男孩 and so on … the film or TV, there seems to be a good growing trend. Promontory on the Cap No. 7 of sales in the weeks since the box office is almost over Red Cliff and so on…movies, I also believe that it will become increasingly popular and sales continue to go on, so to make the Chinese films to be better、inspiring.

Katie Holmes wants to move to New York City with Suri - but not Tom. She's been offered a role in the Broadway revival of All My Sons and doesn't want Tom ass-raping her theater career like he did with her film career. Star reports:
"She desperately needs to be on her own for a while, but there's no way Tom is going to let her take Suri away," an insider tells Star. "There's no way he'll allow it. He just doesn't want Katie — or Suri — out of his sight for long. He told her that if she goes to New York, fine, but he goes with her."Further, the couple's tug of war over their daughter has intensified as of late."Tom wants to call all the shots when it comes to Suri," says an insider. "He has a lot of rules, and there's conflict."
The Superficial has obtained some of Tom's rules for Suri. Many Bothans died bringing us this information. God, they suck at espionage...:
1. Hugs require an E-meter reading of Clear. After that it's $1,000 for a hug and an additional $500 for a "How's daddy little girl?" An "I love you" is $750. No personal checks.
2. When Uncle John calls, tell him Daddy is in the shower watching Battlefield Earth. Promptly let him in upon his arrival. He'll be in a hurry.
3. Please stay within 100 yards of Daddy. Otherwise the bomb I inserted at birth will go off. Because he hearts his little L. Ron clone-princess! Smooches

The party should be in the night, isn’t it? Why do they wear sunglasses?Jared, I think they must have read your blog. And when they saw there were so many people said that Katie looked sad, and tired, no light in her eyes anymore …………………..then sunglasses are a must.BTW, what a hard thing to do…to smile when your heart cries for freedom…..my dear sweet Katie…..

Im 27 years old with 2 kids, and I look better than Katie lol. She looks kinda tacky here, and you can tell someone else (older, perhaps a dorky, controlling man) dressed her. The dress would look so much sexier with other shoes, maybe showing some toes or something. Shes had much better days, lets be serious

what is wrong here? @ 04/21/2008 at 10:13 am
Why can’t you be more like Victoria? I hate you being cute and sappy! Grow up and be stuck up! This was my evil plan all along. I really am in love with her, NOT YOU! But she wouldn’t have me. ~ Tom
But Tom, (sniffles) how can you do this to me? I have idolized you my whole life! I don’t know how to be like Victoria…. ~ Katie
Then become her best friend and copy her ways!! Do it gradual, very gradual and hopefully the world won’t catch on. And by the way, wear these sunglasses tonight…. I don’t want anyone to see those horribly disfiguring tears for me forcing you to wear this ouitfit to look more like her. Victoria never cries. Mkae sure you smile for thje cameras! She is unhuman and you soon will be too …….Wahahahahah!!!! ~Tom

Urgly Betty by America Ferrera

A comment from a UK person,
OK..so I am from the UK and have cheated a little, got my American friend to send me all the first season of ugly Betty and I love it :)When I first heard about ugly Betty I thought...yes a show about a girl who isn't drop dead gorgeous - forgive me for being so clique - but I felt I could relate to her. Although point 1 Betty is NOT ugly, sure she has glasses, who doesn't now a days? braces, with the most perfect teeth I have ever seen and some questionable eyebrows but who cares? To me Betty is not ugly! Let's just get that out the way. This show is one of the best American show I have seen in a long time -apart from DH which I very much enjoy. The characters are fabulous, Betty a sweetheart who everyone would love as a friend, Daniel some eye candy, Willamina, I was surprised how much I have grown to like her over the season. Amanada and Marc are a fabulous double act, can I join please? Christina :D:D being a Scot myself I love her and even though some characters make fun of her being Scottish, like calling her "braveheart" I love the character and the jokes about her accent :) The show to me has everything, and I am not just saying this but in the very first episode I laughed, I cried (at people laughing at Betty) and overall I was left with a warm feeling, that my dreams are possible and that beauty is on the inside also I was left wanting more. The only one thing "bad" I have to say about it is that the message "beauty is on the inside, your dreams are possible" is smacked a bit too much in the audiences face, I think it was at least once an episode - we get it.Overall, Ugly Betty is an enjoyable sitcom, that although people may be put off by its warm side has a great storyline with most of the central characters...my only request for season 2 more Christina

movie stars

1.

Julia Roberts who is the leading actress in that movie, NOTTING HILL.

Notes: Anna Scott is watching the beautiful garden where she is being together with the leading actor.

Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant

The subtitle of NOTTING HILL

Notting Hill (Extracted from http://www.angelfire.com/oh/quotations/movies/n/nottinghill.html )

Anna Scott: "You know what they say about men with big feet." William Thacker: "No, I don't, actually. What's that?" Anna Scott: "Big feet...big shoes."
Anna Scott: " I am just a girl standing in front of a boy wanting for him to love her."
Spike: "I'm going to tell you a story that will make your balls shrink to the size of raisins."
William Thacker: "I enjoyed the movie very much. I was just wondering, did you ever consider having more horses in it?" Anna Scott: "Well, we would have liked to. But it was difficult, obviously, being set in outer space."
Honey: "Oh God, this is one of those key moments in life, when it's possible you can be really, genuinely cool - and I'm failing 100%. I absolutley and totally and utterly adore you and I think you're the most beautiful woman in the world and more importantly I genuinely believe and have believed for some time now that we can be best friends. What do YOU think?"
Keziah: "No thanks, I'm a fruitarian." Max: "I didn't realize that." William: "And, ahm: what exactly is a fruitarian?" Keziah: "We believe that fruits and vegetables have feeling so we think cooking is cruel. We only eat things that have actually fallen off a tree or bush - that are, in fact, dead already." William: "Right. Right. Interesting stuff. So, these carrots..." Keziah: "Have been murdered, yes." William: "Murdered? Poor carrots. How beastly!"
William: "Whoopsidaisies!" Anna: "What did you say?" William: "Nothing." Anna: "Yes you did." William: "No I didn't." Anna: "You said "whoopsidaisies."" William: "I don't think so. No one says "whoopsidaisies," do they? Unless they're--" Anna: "There's no "unless." No one has said "whoopsidaisies" for fifty years and even then it was only little girls with blonde ringlets." William: "Exactly. Here we go again. (He falls off the fence again.) Whoopsidaisies. It's a disease I've got. It's a clincial thing. I'm taking pills and having injections. It won't last long."
