Here is my friend, Eileen who sometimes discusses English with me, gave the following topics. Enjoy it.
A:Do people in Taiwan drink and drive? What is the general attitude toward it?
Q:Yes, some of Taiwanese drive after drinking. I think it’s not moral that driving after drinking. Also, it’s truly too dangerous because drivers would be drunk after drinking easily and they couldn’t control themselves when driving probably.
A:Is it accepted? What age and gender is most likely to drink and drive? Why?
Q:No, it’s not accepted definitely. That’s because drunk driving is very dangerous and it would cause car accidents easily.
Q:In Taiwan, a middle-age of man and young people are most likely to drink and drive. Middle-age men have business dinner with their clients, so they usually drink alcohols. In addition, young people like drinking and driving extremely fast because they think it’s highly cool and greatly exciting.
Q:What are some things that could be done to reduce drunk driving? Are their things that are tried right now? Would solutions tried in Japan or the US work?
A:I think stiff penalty maybe reduce drunk driving, such as loss of driving privileged, big fines if people don’t corrupt. Nowadays, the driver should pay higher fine for driving drunk than before. In fact, the driver should pay around one hundred and fifty thousand NT dollars for drunk driving.
Q:Do you agree do animal research? (Stopping animal research “would be devastating to research and to humanity. There will be no cure, no vaccine or progress in the fight against AIDS without the use of animal research.” Practically all vaccines, including polio, rubella, smallpox, measles, and mumps, would not be available today were it not for animal testing.) Is it acceptable? Write your opinion?
The answers of Eileen: Basically, I don’t think human beings should test on animals. In the realistic society, however , although I can’t agree with testing on animals, I can accept it.
I accept it because I think animal research will help humans to extend life, and cure many diseases of humans. In addition, it also can help humans to avoid suffering diseases.
Nevertheless, I think it really depends on what kinds of researches humans do and why we’d like to do? Moreover, humans can not do researches for all of animals without having good reasons.
Probably, we can do experiments of animals those are easy to make artificial propagations , such as rats. This kind of way would reduce to hurt animals.

No, I think animal experiments are totally wrong. I think we, humankind, do need to do research, but I don’t need to test animals. Animals are innocent and not defensed. Still, we can use other ways to make some experiments to know what we want, such as observing animals, take photographs etc. It definitely takes us much more time, but we can not hurt animals to get our own benefits. Testing animals is nonsense. Meanwhile, animals and human beings should be fair.
