unread-DinTaiFung-The Benchmark of Taiwan Cuisine

ref: Interactive English for Business (p54 of Dec. 2007) -Entrepreneur

Din TaiFung is the one place international tourists and Hollywood stars should not miss when visiting Taiwan. Voted one of the ten most unique restaurants in the world (and the only Chinese food restaurant on that list) by the New York Times, Din TaiFung is synonymous with steamed soup dumplings.

Bingyi Yang, DinTaiFung's founder, did not know how to make steamed soup dumpings when he arrived in Taiwan from Shanxi Province. Just twenty-one, Yang took a job in a cooking oil shop. His diligence and honesty soon earned him the trust of the woner, and he was promoted and in charge of the accounts and administering supplies. Not long after, however, he woner of the shop failed in some of his other investments and became cash-strapped, which finally led to its closure. Forced to leave his first job in Taiwan, Yang decided to open his own cooking oil shop. He named it DinTaiFung.
