Evan Rachel Wood, Marilyn Manson Break Up

Evan Rachel Wood has broken up with Marilyn Manson. The 21-year-old actress first started dating the 39-year-old goth rocker in 2006 while he was still married to Dita Von Teese. They first met when she was featured in a music video for his single, "Heart-Shaped Glasses." First reports indicated some disturbing reasons for the break-up, alleging Manson tried to evict her brother Ira:

Evan owned the house and didn't want her unemployed sibling living on the street. It was the tipping point. Evan was fed up with how controlling and emotionally abusive Marilyn was.

However, Evan Rachel Wood quickly defended her former boyfriend, citing career reasons for their separation. She went further in saying, "If any more attacks are made on us, it is the act of a desperate, selfish person, who is angry to no longer be a part of my life."
Despite these protestations, many have wondered about their relationship, citing Evan Rachel Wood's abrupt decision to undergo a makeover from blonde to brunette upon dating Manson, a look identical to his previous wife's.

desperate: it's weird that I don't find out desperate is a noun but it's a adj. Probably it means risky.

  1. Hello. Desperate means "resulting from loss of hope." I don't know if that helps. I found your blog accidentally, and I like it. I'm a copy editor in New Mexico, USA.

  2. Hi Robyn,

Thanks for helping me. It helps a lot indeed and also encourage me very much. And I'd like to make sure if desperate means that Evan Rachel Wood doesn't want people say bad words to them or she is not hoping to hear any bad terms about she and her ex-boyfriend, Marilyn Manson. Am I right?

I surf the Internet and I think your job, copy editor, which is a job that people need to check or correct something in the certain fields. Am I right? But I wonder what kind of field do you do?

    Thanks a lot.

    Speak to you soon.

  3. Maggie,
Basically, she's saying that somebody (not sure who) is spreading lies, and they are doing it because they are "desperate," but it doesn't really say why.

But she means that the person is doing it as a last resort to get what they want. If you are desperate, you are willing to do things you shouldn't just to get a desired end result.

For example, maybe you're desperate to have a baby and it's so important that you would lie and say you're on birth control when you're not so that you can get pregnant.

It's not always a bad thing, though. You could just find yourself in a tough situation and be frantically trying to solve it. Like you need to get to another city on short notice and you're desperate to find a seat on a flight.

As for me: a copy editor proofreads writing. I work for a newspaper editing news stories. I'm happy to offer help any time. You can email me, too, through my blog if you want.

  7. Hi Robyn,

Thanks for giving me help so much. For your question, the words are blue, which are the new vocabuary actually. It's too much for me I know. Ha. As you may know, I am an English of learner. That's why I do that.

It's amazing. You keep in touch with me. I feel very happy indeed.

    Speak to you soon.
